Getting started was difficult, because when the Berlin Wall came down I was faced with a completely new situation from what I'd been used to in East Germany. However, I was impressed by the tried and tested PORTAS concept and the support provided for my business on a local level. My wife and I founded our PORTAS franchise business in 1991. Today it supports two families, as my son-in-law has also established himself as a PORTAS door specialist. He can now offer our customers four main product lines (door, kitchen, staircase and window renovation). It's good that PORTAS
is constantly developing new products, as that provides increased business security and allows us to look into a bright future. Without PORTAS we would never have been able to afford what we can today.
