As an experienced joiner I got fed up in the seventies with travelling ever longer distances to my clients in Greater Munich, only to work on cold building sites in the daytime and deal with the bookkeeping in the evenings.
I heard about PORTAS from an advertisement. I was impressed by the company concept, the modern processing techniques and the systematic advertising. As early as 1977 my PORTAS turnover outstripped that of my own joinery business. In time, what was initially intended to be an additional source of revenue became my sole business, which is run today by my sons, Klaus and Günter.
Franchising is a great concept, because the improvements PORTAS is constantly making in processing and marketing techniques are passed on to us in training sessions. That enables me to stay one step ahead of the competition.
